Support Us

There are three main ways you can support ExtTLD, and further upcoming projects:

1. Join us and contribute!
ExtTLD is the first step in a number of ethical-based Open Source projects focused to provide animal rights, environmental and human rights organisations and activists around the world with access to the latest web-based technologies and technical support. Our mission is to provide a range of enterprise software solutions to the not-for-profit sector for FREE, along with technical support and other services. The products will be based on OpenSource principles, but with usage restrictions for organisations that don't meet our ethical criteria list, which we have drafted and will evolve with the Open Source and ethical communities.

Here is the roadmap of our upcoming projects:
  • Portal/intranet similar to netvibes.com or igoogle.com enabling the aggregation of existing news sources by RSS or a simple content management system. Users can build their own homepage from a list of available feeds and monitor other organisations' and groups' activities from just one place. Sources can be categorised by type of activity e.g. media campaign or direct action etc, or number of subscribers to a site. A first public version is planned for launch towards the end of 2008.
  • Web SVN (Subversion) client based on ExtTLD, that enables users to share information and campaign materials such as videos, leaflets, posters, photography and other artwork. The Web SVN will be integrated as part of the portal solution. The first public version is planned for the first half of 2009.
  • Content Management System (CMS) that enables organisations as well as smaller groups to create and publish web-based content in a simple and user friendly way. The system will integrate campaign management, SVN, photo galleries, video galleries, blogs, discussion forums, donate and support sectionz etc. Two important parts of the system will be the ability to use content from other social applications such as Google Video, YouTube, Flickr, etc. as well as a templating system that will enable users to extend existing templates to meet their own needs. A first public version is planned to be available by late 2009.
  • Activist's workspace that will integrate the Content Management System, SVN, Portal, email and other communication and support tools, using the unique ExtJS desktop solution.

Each of the projects will be dedicated to a current and relevant social topic e.g ExtTLD highlights in-humane conditions in intensive factory farming, animal laboratories or fur farms etc. and restricts usage for companies that do not meet our list of ethical criteria. Our principle of ethical software development enriches current OpenSource principles with a new purpose - build a better world for future generations.

Here is a list of the roles we will need to deliver these projects:
  • Web application developer (JEE, Hibernate, Spring, OO JS/ExtJS/HTML/jQuery/DWR,..)
  • Support team member (ExtJS, JS, JEE TLD,..)
  • Translators (English to any language)
  • Lawyer (software licensing, evironmental, human rights and animal rights ethics)
  • Graphics designer (promotional materials such as banners, leaflets, t-shirts...)
  • Marketing and PR officer

If you are interested in one of these roles, please contact us at info@exttld.com, telling us why you want to join the team and your relevant skills.

2. Inform other people about our mission
ExtTLD is not just a software library - it is a prime example of responsible usage of OpenSource software to benefit others. If you are interested in our mission, please tell others about us and help spread the word about ethical-based software development.

Here are a few examples of how you can help:
  • Download ExtTLD banner and place it on your website or blog.
  • Send a link to exttld.com to your IT department or your IT solutions provider.
  • If you work for an organisation that doesn't meet our ethical criteria, ask for change within your organisation and show exttld.com as an advantage of being an ethically-based business.
  • If your company finances animal testing (etc.), try to ask them to consider stepping off the animal testing contract.

3. Sponsorship
If you are keen to support our project but don't have time, then you can support us financially so that we can grow the possibility and potential or our projects. We are currently looking for a partner that can provide server hosting for all of our projects.

If you would like to support us in this way, please contact us at info@exttld.com.
